Milk, syrup and whipped cream do not change caffeine, which is why those controls are absent.

All 4 Starbucks Tools

The Starbucks Caffeine Calculator answers one question. How much caffeine is in your drink at your size? Pick any of 28 drinks from the Starbucks menu. Pick a size. Add extra shots if that is your usual.

You get caffeine in milligrams. You see its % of a 400 mg daily reference. You see how many milligrams remain. You see how many drinks like yours reach 400 mg. Below the calculator, all 28 drinks rank by Grande caffeine. You see where your order sits in the whole menu.

Size matters more than most people expect. One drink can nearly double its caffeine between Tall and Venti. Two drinks can look alike. A latte and a cold brew can sit 55 mg apart at the same size. If caffeine drives your choice, check it before you order. Do not check it after.

What the Caffeine Calculator Shows

1. Pick a drink from the Starbucks menu.
2. Pick a size.
3. Add 0 to 3 extra shots if you like.
4. See the caffeine in milligrams.
5. The bar shows it as a % of the 400 mg daily reference.
6. Read your strength label. Low is under 100 mg. Moderate is 100 to 199 mg. High is 200 to 299 mg. Very High is 300 mg and above.
7. See the milligrams left under 400 mg.
8. See how many drinks like yours reach 400 mg, to one decimal place.

The ranked table lists all 28 drinks by Grande standard caffeine. Highest comes first. Click any row and it loads that drink into the calculator. It answers "what has more caffeine, this or that" fast. You run no two separate searches.

How Caffeine Changes With Size

Espresso drinks follow their espresso shots. Tall and below have 1 shot. Grande and hot Venti have 2 shots. Iced Venti has 3 shots. Each extra shot adds 75 mg. That creates one surprise. A hot Venti latte has the same 150 mg as a Grande. Both have 2 shots. The extra ounces are mostly milk. An iced Venti gets a third shot. Its caffeine jumps instead.

Brewed and cold drinks follow their own tables, not the shot model. Pike Place Roast runs Short 180 mg, Tall 260 mg, Grande 310 mg, and Venti 410 mg. Cold Brew runs Tall 155 mg, Grande 205 mg, Venti 310 mg, and Trenta 415 mg.

Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso runs Tall 170 mg, Grande 255 mg, and Venti 340 mg. Refreshers climb the gentlest. They run Tall 35 mg, Grande 45 mg, Venti 70 mg, and Trenta 90 mg.

The Highest and Lowest Caffeine Drinks

The strongest Grande drinks are Pike Place Roast (310 mg), Nitro Cold Brew (280 mg), Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso (255 mg), Caffè Americano (225 mg), and Cold Brew (205 mg). All five are coffee forward drinks. Little or nothing softens them. At the other end, Hot Chocolate has just 25 mg.

Three Refreshers sit at 45 mg each. They are Strawberry Açaí, Pink Drink, and Mango Dragonfruit. Two matcha lattes sit at 80 mg.

One fact surprises almost everyone. None of the 28 drinks in this tool is caffeine free. Hot Chocolate still carries 25 mg. Each refresher still carries 45 mg. If you want zero caffeine, none of these 28 standard builds gives it to you. That is how this menu works. It is not a gap in the calculator.

The 400 mg Daily Reference in Plain Terms

400 mg is the widely used daily caffeine reference for healthy adults. It is a yardstick, not a personal medical limit. It is not a target to hit. The calculator shows your drink against it so the number means something.

A Grande Pike Place Roast at 310 mg is about 78% of the reference. It leaves about 90 mg. That is roughly 1.3 drinks like it to reach 400 mg. A Grande Pink Drink at 45 mg is about 11%. Two Grande Brown Sugar Shaken Espressos at 255 mg each add up to 510 mg. That crosses the reference before anything else you drink all day.

Strength labels use the same bands across the site. Under 100 mg is Low. 100 to 199 mg is Moderate. 200 to 299 mg is High. 300 mg or more is Very High. A drink can read High and still be an ordinary daily order. The label makes comparisons instant. It passes no judgment on your coffee.

What Does Not Change Caffeine

Milk, syrup, and whipped cream do not change caffeine. That is why this calculator does not ask for them. A caramel latte and a plain latte with the same shots have the same caffeine. Syrup changes calories and sugar.

It does not change milligrams. Only two things move the caffeine number here. Size moves it through shots or the brewed table. Extra shots move it at 75 mg each. If you want the full nutrition picture, use the Starbucks Nutrition Calculator instead. It shows calories, macros, and caffeine together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are These the Official Starbucks Caffeine Values?+

No. All values are estimates. They come from public nutrition information.

They vary by preparation, customization, and location. They are not official Starbucks guidance. They are not medical advice.

Which Starbucks Drink Has the Most Caffeine?+

Pike Place Roast leads as a Grande at 310 mg. Its Venti reaches 410 mg. That is the highest single drink figure in this tool. Nitro Cold Brew follows at 280 mg Grande. Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso follows at 255 mg. If you want maximum caffeine per cup, pick brewed coffee or cold brew. They beat every milky espresso drink on the menu.

Do Frappuccinos Have Much Caffeine?+

Relatively little. Mocha Frappuccino has 95 mg as a Grande. Caramel Frappuccino has 90 mg. Java Chip Frappuccino has 100 mg. All three sit in the Low band. All three sit below a Grande latte's 150 mg. A Frappuccino is a dessert style drink first. It is a caffeine delivery system second.

Does a Bigger Size Always Mean More Caffeine?+

Usually, but not always. Hot espresso drinks keep 2 shots from Grande to hot Venti. Their caffeine stays flat while calories rise with extra milk. Iced drinks gain a third shot at Venti. Brewed drinks climb steeply with each size. Cold Brew jumps from 205 mg at Grande to 310 mg at Venti and 415 mg at Trenta. Check your exact size. Do not assume.

Can I Compare the Caffeine of Two Drinks?+

Yes. The Compare Starbucks Drinks tool puts two drinks side by side. It shows caffeine plus calories, protein, carbs, sugar, and fat. Each drink keeps its own size and changes. For one drink's full macro panel, use the Starbucks Nutrition Calculator.

Is 400 mg a Limit I Must Not Exceed?+

It is a widely used reference, not a rule for you personally. Caffeine sensitivity varies a lot by person. This page is not medical advice. The calculator shows where a drink sits against that reference. You decide with real numbers.
